Does anyone have a recipe for Cornish hen in rose petal sauce?

Cornish Game in Rose Petal Sauce

INGREDIENTS:

3 cornish game hens, halved)

Olive Oil

Salt %26amp; Pepper

1/2-1 cup Chicken stock or white wine

12 red roses

12 roasted chestnuts, shelled %26amp; pureed

2 tbsp honey

2 tbsp butter

2 cloves garlic

2 tsp cornstarch

2 drops rose water

2 tsp anise seeds

2 cactus fruit (pitaya), ground

Preheat oven to 400°.

Clean and dress hens so that they hold their shape. Rub hens l with olive oil, salt %26amp; pepper, and arrange in a non-stick roasting pan, breast side down, add liquid to cover bottom of pan. Cook the hen for 25 minutes and then turn them over and cook for another 25 minutes.

While the birds are roasting, remove the petals from the roses and rinse thoroughly (do not cook with flowers from a florist!). Set aside the petals of two roses, and grind the remaining petals in a mortar with the anise.

Separately, mince the garlic and brown slightly in butter over medium heat. When transparent, add the chestnut puree. Lower heat, and add the honey, ground cactus fruit, and the ground rose petals. Salt to taste. Add cornstarch, to thicken the sauce slightly. Strain the sauce through a fine sieve, and add no more than two drops of rose water. Once all seasoning has been added to the sauce remove it from the heat.

Remove hens from oven, and lightly marinate the hen in the sauce for ten minutes to flavor, and return them to the roasting pan. Increase the oven temperature to 500° and roast the hen five to ten minutes more until golden brown.

Serve hen with sauce drizzled on top and garnished with the reserved rose petals.

* 1 pinch salt and freshly ground black pepper

* 3/4 teaspoon ground anise seed

* 3 prickly pears (cactus fruit), peeled and chopped

* 12 red or pink organic roses' petals

* 1 cup chopped walnuts

* 3 cups chicken broth, or as needed

* 2 tablespoons honey, or to taste

DIRECTIONS

1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add garlic, and saute until fragrant, 2 or 3 minutes. Season with salt, pepper and anise, and cook for another minute to blend the flavors.

2. In the container of a blender or food processor, combine the prickly pears, rose petals (reserving a few for garnish) and walnuts. Pour in just enough broth to cover. Cover, and process until smooth.

3. Pour the rose petal mixture into the saucepan with the garlic. Cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring gently. If the sauce is too thick, add more broth as needed. How do you get rid of rose petal stains on a shirt?

I have a pink shirt stained from the rose petals during a wedding reception. Tried cleaning them off, but not able to do so. Please help

How do you get rid of rose petal stains on a shirt?
Rose Petal stains are very difficult to remove. A lot of churches will not allow fresh roses to be used, so freeze dried or silk roses are used in thier place.

For your stain I would take it to your dry cleaner and hope for the best.

Has The Body Shop discontinued their Lotus Petal fragrance?

I can't find it online, but their stores are far away from me, so I can't pop in and check. I adore their Lotus Petal fragrance and if it is discontinued, is it being reformulated and brought back? Or are there any last bastions of it I can find online somewhere? If not, any recommendations for what smells similar (besides Momoberry, which is spot-on but triple the price) Thank you for your help!

How can I remove rose petal (natural/fresh/red) stains from a white bath?

The bath water drained away overnight and the petals sat in contact. A browny/blue stain has been left behind.

How can I remove rose petal (natural/fresh/red) stains from a white bath?
Try the magic eraser.
Reply:if the bleach doesn't work....try peroxide

Ne Blessed!
Reply:Bleach that stays on the stain longer would help like in the product Tilex. A few applications will be necessary. If this is not feasible make a paste of Comet cleanser with bleach and apply, let dry and scrub away. 2-3 applications may be needed.Since the stains are organic, they will be easy to remove. Beware of the Magic Eraser, the product is just a dense piece of foam and falls apart very easily. Good luck and have a shinier tub.
Reply:Use chlorine bleach and water, about half and half and make sure that the water can't 'drain away' (you may need to put some plastic over the 'plug' to make sure) while the bleach has time to work. Do it in the early morning, and check it several times during the day. The 'stain' is from 'rot' of the petals and it may actually take a few 'days' of soaking your tub to get it 'white' again.

How can I crochet a 5 petal flower into a granny square?

I made a few lotus flowers with 5 petals and would like to make them into a border for a purse I am making and I'm trying to figure out how to strand them together into the purse. Should I make it into a granny square or is there another way I can strand them together?

How can I crochet a 5 petal flower into a granny square?
Here are a few patterns. You can crochet your rose and add a chain row after words connected in the center of each rose.

After you have that row then work your square by chaning three and working two dc.ch 2.then work 3 cd in first connecting chain loop, then work 3 dc, ch 2, 3 cd, ch 1 in the rest of the loops.

This will give you a five sided square but you can sew or slip them together and they will create a very pretty and uique aphgan. You just stager the end. Give it a try with a few squares and see what ya think.

Happy Stitching
Reply:I checked several sites and the most of them show the flowers being sewn on top of the granny square. You can do it that way or sew a couple of the petals together and then fasten them to the purse.

How do I make Gulkand or Rose petal jam?

Can I just take petals of the roses in my garden to make it or do I need to use petals of some special type of roses? I have pink, yellow, orange and red petaled roses in my garden. Can I use any or all of these for making the jam? Thanks!

How do I make Gulkand or Rose petal jam?
I've eaten but not made this -- here's a recipe I picked up

Gulkand/ Rose Petal Jam

Ingredients

1 kg fresh red and pink fragrant rose petals, washed and drained

[ Wild roses, are best, beacuse they have essential oils in them whereas cultured roses lack this quality. Best if the roses are grown organically, super fresh picked in the morning and clean, without dust, insects etc. ]

1 kg sugar

2 tspns cardamom seeds crushed

2 tspns fennel aniseeds

Few drops rose essence

Method

In a ceramic or glass bowl crush rose petals into the sugar by folding with wooden spooon -- OR,--- layer alternately rose petals and sugar directly into wide glass jar. If using the bowl-crushing method, add all the remaining ingredients and spoon into a large mouthed glass jar with tight lid. Leave in the sun everyday with lid closed, and stir with clean, dry wooden spoon every other day or so. The sun and sugar will draw out the moisture from the petals and make it syrupy.

Bring it in when the sun goes. Do this for a week-ten days and then leave the jar indoors on shelf, stir once in while, till you see it has turned dark and acquired a jam like consistency. takes another two plus weeks. Now it's ready. Store in a cool place. Will keep for year or two. Not refrigerated in India.

This is an Ayurvedic remedy as well, in addition to being used in paan. Considered cooling, a stomach settler, and a digestiive aid. It is an antioxidant, a tonic, a mild laxative, and good for memory and eyesight.

Reply:Use only pink rose petals which we use in garlands......wash the rose petals in cold water genlt(like keeping in water for 2 mins and rinsing it). the ice cold water should be drinking water..... next put these petals in a glass jar and add about 200 gms of sugar for a glass filled jar of rose petals(jar=500gm jar) keep it in room temprature for few days and u'll notice that the color would change to brown.. after the colours start to change mix the contents of the jar with a spoon till the sugar in it gets mixed well. again leave it for few days and ur gulkand is ready... it's a process of about 4-6 weeks.... indian summer is the best season to prepare it.

I used to spray down the flowers with hairspray then freeze them immediately afterward. I had great success with this. :)

Is it bad when you have a car stereo hooked up and when you hit the gas petal it makes a buzzing sound?

I have a jensen 100 x 4 amp that I use for my highs. Recently it started making the tweeter make a buzzing sound when I hit the gas petal, Does anyone know why it does this and how I could stop this ignoring sound?

Is it bad when you have a car stereo hooked up and when you hit the gas petal it makes a buzzing sound?
it's alternator whine.

there are inductors that supposidly reduce this, but i don't know about how effective they are.

if all your wires are tight, it might just be that jensen makes junk.

1. Bad ground. This is the most common. The ground on the amplifier is loose, poorly connected or to a bad spot. You need to have a clean surface... i.e. no paint and it must be tight on the connection.

2. Power intereference between the RCA's and the power wire. Electricity puts off a magnetic field and that can be picked up by the signal in the RCA's if they are routed together. Not always but sometimes this happens. Running your power wire on the opposite side of the car that the RCA's are on usually solves this.

3. Poor equipment. Some stereo equipment is just.... well.... garbage. No matter what you do.... run the RCA's from ANOTHER car, run the power wire only 12 inches, put the ground directly to the battery..... it won't take the whine out of the equipment. Trust me.... I've done all the above and still had equipment whine.

Good luck!
Reply:check all the grounds
Reply:thats engine whine usually when you have a amp its usually becoz of the rca wires and power wires being to close together
Reply:yes this is bad. You have a bad ground.

Why is it that my clean channel is louder than my distortion through my foot petal?

i just got a B-52 half stack for christmas and i got a foot petal with it and i was wonder as to why my clean channel is louder than my distortion channel. any suggestions on what i could do with this? thanks!

Why is it that my clean channel is louder than my distortion through my foot petal?
if it's just a separate foot pedal unit just for distortion, U might wanna put in a fresh battery. technology now a days those usually eat batteries up.

if it IS a separate pedal unit, %26amp; if this persists, keep in mind that going thru a distortion means the signal goes thru more "processing" which could mean more electronic components, or just filters... digital or otherwise. the Clean Channel is just a straight circuit, very little processing (circuitry) to go thru.

another go is... the distortion channel, which may have more processing or components for signal to go thru, may have an inherently increased "Noise Floor". (that could be your next question on Yahoo!(R) Answers_ ) if it does have higher noise floor, the manfacturer may have put in more filters to reduce the noise, but the reduction also brings your level down. (not as loud)

if your distortion channel is built into your pre-amp or amp, ask the dealer if it's supposed to DO THAT. did U listen to that particular unit before U bought it?... (i know U did) ask the dealer if he could open it up %26amp; see if one of components (on the distortion channel) is faulty... if something is faulty, he's not gonna replace it..., he's just get U a new one. play THAT new one before U take it home. rock on
Reply:check for different volume knobs and adjust---may be a different volume knob for each channel

What does it mean when my gas petal sticks when I accelerate?

It doesn't do all the time, but enough I need to get check, my brakes are fine, but I scared if petal gets stuck, I will not be able to stop the car

What does it mean when my gas petal sticks when I accelerate?
could be a broken motor mount
Reply:Could be dirty throttle plates in the throttle body or carburetor based on what kind of car you have.

Also could be a binding /sticking accelerator cable or linkage

also ,sometimes the floor mat will wedge under the accelerator pedal and cause this.

Take it in to a shop immediately for inspection and repair to avoid any potential accidents.
Reply:possible kink in the cable or the throttle is sticking at the injectors or carburetor or the petal itself.
Reply:You didnt really give enough information for a good answer. your answers will be diffirent if your car is fuel injected or has a carburetor.
Reply:that means the throtttle spring gets blocked by something else in your engine!!

if it happens, put the car in neutral!!!

How can I make my own petal invitations?

I would like to make petal invitations for my college graduation. Buying them is about $3 each, so I'd like to make them myself.

How can I cut the paper into this shape, aside from freehanding with scissors? Is there a special type of cutter that can do this?

Alternatively, do you know of any cheap stores that sell petal invitations?

Here's a photo of what a petal invite is:

How can I make my own petal invitations?
We have a scrapbook specialty store in our area that lets you use their dye-cut machines if you purchase paper from them. They have a similar dye. http://www.ellison.com/shop/?p=product_d...

If you can locate a store that has dye cutting machines for customer use, they may have the dye you are looking for. If not, they may be willing to get one for you.

You could do something similar if you can't find a dyecut store: http://www.paperthoughts.com/invitations...

Choose the paper and ribbon and fold the announcements yourself without having to cut them. Specialty paper can be found at office supply stores, craft stores or stores like Target and Fred Meyers.

Where can I find low-fat rose petal ice cream?

I've become addicted lately to the superb Indian cousine. Perhaps, after trying rose petal ice cream in NY I have started wondering whether rose petal ice cream (fat-free or light) is also available? If any, can I order it on-line?

Where can I find low-fat rose petal ice cream?
It's hard to buy commercial low fat rose petal ice cream,

you can easily find regular rose petal ice cream at any Indian grocery store.

But here's a good recipe:

Petals of 3 fragrant organic roses

½ cup lowfat milk (skim doesnt work well)

3 ½ cups heavy cream (can use fat free half %26amp; half)

1 cup granulated sugar

6 egg yolks

¼ cup rosewater, or to taste, available at Indian stores

a few drops red food color, optional

Wash the rose petals in cold water and pat dry. In a heavy, non-reactive saucepan, place petals of 2 roses, milk, cream, and ½ cup of the sugar. Place over medium heat and heat to just under boiling. Let steep about a half hour to infuse.

Combine the egg yolks and the remaining ½ cup of sugar in a mixing bowl. Whisk until thick and pale yellow. Bring the rose/cream mixture back to a near boil and whisk ¼ of the warm mixture into the egg and sugar mixture. Then pour all of the egg mixture into the rose milk and place over low heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.

Strain into a bowl and chill on ice. Pour into the ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions. Transfer finished ice cream into bowl and add the torn petals from the remaining rose. Fold into ice cream and pack into freezing container.

PS: the Indian word for rose is "gulab".
Reply:How to make rose petal ice cream:

This is a most unusual recipe which harks back to a time when certain flowers were used quite extensively in cooking. When obtaining rose petals, make absolutely certain that you know how they have been grown and that they have neither been too near a busy highway or sprayed with pesticides. If you buy your roses from a florist shop make sure that they have not been treated with any chemicals. Also remove any bugs, dirt etc. and wash the petals thoroughly before use.

Ingredients

1/2 pint organic milk

yolks of 6 organic, free range eggs

3 1/2 tablespoons caster/superfine sugar

1/2 pint organic cream

1 cup rose petals

4 tablespoons rosé wine
