Sounds like a butterfly valve issue. I found and included some info below, it was the method used for a car- but, you can vary the process for what works best with your truck-this should hopefully help you deal with the issue on a do-it-yourself basis...
Here's what you will need:
1)A can of Carburetor Cleaner
2)An old Toothbrush
3)Some Paper Towels
4)Phillips Screwdriver
5)Metallic Chewing Gum Wrapper
6)Titanium Bike Frame Pipe
7)A friend (or spouse) who’s willing to sit in the car with their foot on the gas pedal for about 5 minutes. (beer bribes work) LOL
If you can park your vehicle so that the passenger side is higher, than the the driver side, great! If not, no worries, you’re just going to make a lot of smoke. I’ll explain later. Turn the car off, open up the hood, and look for the large black flex pipe that runs from your air filter to the top of the engine. There should be a metal wire on a pulley near where this pipe connects. When you press your gas pedal, this pulley turns, opening up the valve that lets air into the engine. This valve is what needs to be cleaned. To remove the hose, you’ll need to loosen up the hose clamp with the screwdriver. Once the clamp is loose enough to move around, pull the pipe off of the throttle body and push it to the side Then, push a wad of paper towels under the opening.
This is the part where you need someone to get in the car and hold the gas pedal down. DO NOT start the car. You’ll notice that when they press the gas, the circular butterfly valve inside the throttle body will be open. With this valve open, you’ll want to attach the little plastic straw to your can of carburetor cleaner (which is about $3 at an auto parts store) and saturate the inside of the throttle body. Be sure to get the entire surface of the valve flap as well. This should loosen up some nice black gunk around where the valve usually touches the walls of the throttle body. Use your toothbrush to scrub the walls and the flap as thoroughly as possible. If you can still feel grit around the edges of the flap, or the groove where the valve touches the walls, keep scrubbing and squirting carburetor cleaner as needed.
When you’re done scrubbing, wipe up as much of the carburetor cleaner as you can. Push the black hose back on to the throttle body, and tighten the hose clamp. Now this is the fun part. Crank you engine and let the car/truck sit running for a few minutes. Depending on how much carburetor cleaner is still in your throttle body, your car exhaust will put off a nice steady flow of white smoke. I’m talking voluminous puffy white clouds. Dont worry it WILL go away, After about 5 or 6 minutes .

This would cause a high idle problem on a modern vehicle. The Ford vehicles have a problem with sticking throttle plates as well. A throttle body replacement will solve this problem. This is characterized by a hard to push gas pedal, and then suddenly it breaks free and zoom you are off to the races. May be a sticking throttle plate.
Reply:My truck (GMC) had the same problem. The throttle body gummed up and was causing the pedal to stick. It was a quick fix. Take off the air intake duct, open up the air valve and their should be some gum causing the valve to stick. Apply some cleaner to the problem and you are good to go! It could also be your throttle cable either loose or possibly in a bind.

B: Maybe the problem isn't the cable...have you checked to make sure the throttle plate and linkages move freely and aren't sticking? Hose those down with some carb cleaner

I have a 2008 Mercury Sable that I am having trouble with the gas petal sticking when I have to accelerate quickly ( like when you have to merge onto a highway quickly ) . It dosent do it every time and I have had it at the dealer for this issue, but of course it didnt do it for them. I am just curious if anyone else had this issue and how you solved it.Thanks for any help.

Awe, let the poor dog retain his original floppy, cute ears. Cutting the ears is cruel and unnecessary. It could become infected and then they would have to be completely removed. An earless dog is sad, and looks miserable.

Just got J%26amp;P Abraham Darby rose on sale. Upper leaves paler-fert. helped some. Watered heavily. Some improvement. Need part. nutrient?

Reply:ok if it did downshiftyou would more then likly screw up you front end reason it will not downshift is because the valvebody has a fail safe for idiots like you the fluid pressure is to high and will not down shift and for good reasons go price a rebuild on a trans and asks yourself if you not daddy you can afford it

* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract
* 2 pounds confectioners' sugar

1. In a large bowl, stir together the shortening and corn syrup. Mix in the salt and vanilla flavoring, then gradually mix in the confectioners' sugar until it is a stiff dough. If you are using a stand mixer, use the dough hook attachment. Otherwise, knead by hand. If the dough is sticky, knead in more confectioners' sugar until it is smooth. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
2. To use, roll out on a clean surface that has been dusted with confectioners' sugar until it is 1/8 inch thick or thinner if you can. Drape over frosted and chilled cakes and smooth the sides down, or cut into strips to make bows and other decorations.

sadly, the cleaning lady through out my wifes dried wedding bouquet, which was devastating. i was able to find a single petal from it, and as a gift, i want to give it to her in a really cool way. I need some ideas on how to mount or display it, to make it look pretty and special. I was thinking behind a picture frame with a picture of us or a poem, but i want to do something a bit more, so any creative ideas?

My car constantly jerks while my foot is on the gas petal and I starting to get on the highway it does that...

It's just a conincidence that it's doing this after you installed a new battery. The problem your experiencing is fuel related. Plugged fuel filter or maybe just dirty injectors..try a bottle of fuel system cleaner before you take it to a shop

If you are talking about the Drums, you can't do that. It's apart of the Drum Set and it would be a little weird if there was no bass..
All in all, the game doesn't let you turn it off.

Where can I get a kids bike petal?
My son's bike petal fell off his bike and I cannot find one to replace it anywhere, I tried wal-mart and ebay. The bike is just a little cheap one made by Huffy, so I don't want to pay more for the petal than the bike is worth. Thanks

Most bikes use the standard, larger 9/16" thread but the 1/2" is common on kid's and department store bikes. You'll probably need a thin 15mm pedal wrench to put it on properly, and the left and right pedals are different. You want to be sure you can install it tight so it doesn't come loose and ruin the crankarm threads while he's riding.

Problem starting with a 2002 Saturn SL2 sedan, i have to have my foot way down on the petal to get it to start
Since it is a newer car that is fuel injected, i am guessing it is maybe a fuel filter or some kind of cold start sensor. I don't try the car but i the driver, my wife said that it cuts out some times. I don't know if any one knows much about this car or had a similar problem but any advice is appreciated.

Can you identify this flowering shrub? Fountain shape, 4-petal white flowers, smooth-edge ovateleaves?
Looks like a vine but has very woody stems clustered at the base. Looks similar to dogwood, without the indented petals. Growing in SE Texas. Flowers are unscented. Has grown to 10 feet tall, but was cut back too much; after 2 years has grown back to 7 feet.

Has anyone else tried making rose petal beads?
I'm experimenting with it now and I'm really just curious as to what other people's experiences have been. You know, what colors you've been getting (I've been getting an almost black purple with red petals), the texture (mine are all kind of lumpy and have all these funky ridges), that sort of thing. Any tips you have would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Reply:I did this, too! I got some pretty paper I liked and cut it out in circles, and then just rolled them up and stuck with double-sided tape. It was actually a fun task to get some of the other women in the wedding party together to work on.

I would save the money a skip on these and save your money. Our florists put the petals in a basket and people just grabbed handfuls. The way they put them in the basket, she took the entire rose off the stem. They were placed in the basket to look like whole roses (if that makes sense).

I have a 2000 Ford Focus and my brakes were going bad.. so everything was replaced by a professional mechanic. New brake shoes, pads, rotors, calibers, master cylinder, and brake booster. Now I have no petal, when I press down on the brake it goes right down to the floor and gives no resistance at all. The car does not stop. The mechanic doesn't know what is wrong with it and cannot fix it. I'm looking at forking over MORE money to have it looked at by someone else and I have already gone into considerable debt just on the work that I've had done. If anyone can offer any answers, or suggestions about what may be wrong, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

IF the car has ABS (anti lock brakes), the dealer is probably the only place that can bleed the ABS system. a scan tool has to be plugged in and actuate the ABS valves to purge the air in it.
IF the ABS system was opened up, it'll need to be bled.
if it wasn't, it should be fine.
a brake pedal that goes to the floor is a sign of a bad master cylinder or air in brake lines.
all those things that were replaced were unnecessary unless they were broken.
brake boosters rarely go bad, as does master cylinders and calipers. it's possible, but something doesn't sound right.
Even a NEW master cylinder can go bad! They are made by man, man is not perfect.
You need to inform the mechanic that you want to see your old parts next time, and/or take them with you.
and also, make him prove the parts were bad.

I have a 1989 dodge caravan it starts but stays running only if i pump the gas petal really fast?
I have replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, throttle body, injector,coil,pick up coil plugs wires 4 relays and pretty much everything else must be simple. I am missing something if i dump fuel directly into throttle body it stays running//i have all those parts i mentioned extra now please help.

If the carb and fuel pump are carbing and pumping, and the spark stuff is sparking, and you didn't state but I'm sure that all your emissions filters are clean, (right?), now its time to get down under. How's that catylitic converter look? They sometime get clogged or rusty and collapse in on themselves. If it looks bad either punch a hole in it or bypass it temporarily and see if things improve.. But all that you describe spells fuel pump problem. Could be you got a bad one.

I play professionally, and do a lot of recording work: I swear by the Line 6 Pod... the pedal board is noise free and easy to use, and the variety of amp sounds you can get is great. You can get great distorion at low volume levels, which really makes it in a recording situation.

You can make them yourself with polymer clay the way they sometimes do too. That would take only a few hours, including a trip to the craft or art supply store for the clay.
Most clayers will use a "translucent" color of polymer clay (from the brands Premo, Kato, Fimo, or Sculpey), then mix some very-dry crushed rose petals into the clay, shape as a bead and drill a hole (twisting the hole with a toothpick, etc.), then bake (...to give a glossy surface to the bead, use an acrylic finish like a polurethane or a clear acrylic fingernail polish, or sand then electric buff --hand-buffing will give a sheen only).
You can either mix the petals into the whole bead, or to save on petals and make them show up thicker near the surface, make a small ball first (of perhaps white clay or translucent clay), mix the petals into more transcluent clay separately then flatten it, and finally cover the small ball with the sheet of petals+translucent clay... then roll in your hands to make a smooth ball (shape further if desired).
Or, you could use a more *opaque* color of polymer clay instead of translucent --a rose color, or any color you want-- but then you wouldn't *see* the rose petals much or at all in the bead, you'd just know they were in there.
