Has anyone else tried making rose petal beads?

I'm experimenting with it now and I'm really just curious as to what other people's experiences have been. You know, what colors you've been getting (I've been getting an almost black purple with red petals), the texture (mine are all kind of lumpy and have all these funky ridges), that sort of thing. Any tips you have would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Mine are all dark colors like maroon and purple. I sand mine down after they are finished and polish them to get rid of the ridges.

I think rose petal beads look a little messy, so I make beads from rose buds instead. I have two huge Cecil Millers and in the spring I harvest buds as they are about to open and string them. They dry right on the string and if I take care of them stay beautiful and fragrant for years.
Reply:My mother gave me an article on how to make them years ago, it was written by a nun in a convent who was using the rose petals to make rosary beads. I remember it seemed like a long, time-consuming process. Also, apparently no matter what color rose petals she used, they all turn out that dark color. This is such an out-of-the-ordinary thing, you should consider selling the completed beads through a shop or on ebay.
