How do I know if my 99 Buick has a transmission problem? Car keeps jerking please read!?

It continuously jerks until I take my foot off the gas petal. I can't make a pass or accelerate straight with out it continuously jerking. I recently got a tune up that didn't help the jerking. Does this sound like a transmission problem?

I hope I can help. I have a Cavalier in the shop as I type this, the car would not "lock" into any gear, and for months it has been jerking when I was stopped or coming to a stop. I had it looked at three times, but the mechanic never could find anything. Anyway, it died yesterday after it wouldn't shift. I thought I was looking at getting a new car, which I simply cannot afford, but he said it is the transmission cable and it is not too expensive. Had to have it towed, so with that and the part(s) needed plus labor, he said it should cost me $200.00. I wish you luck with your problem.
Reply:Perhaps it's your spark plugs misfiring. Get another mechanic to look at it.
Reply:No your transmission is fine.

You have a spark plug wire or a spark plug not working, and its got giving enough power, It could be a coil cutting in and out....but it would had quit by now.

I know you had a tune up reciently....but they didn't replace the plugs.... (?) then you should personally check to make sure all the plug wires are securely on the plugs, some may be loose and will cause what you described.

To check grab a guy with a spark plug wrench and have him remove a spark plug and look. If it is black spend $6 bucks and replace the plugs with new ones.

There are a couple of spark plugs that are hard to get to at on your car.....and mechanics just skip them sometime, if they are in a hurry.

Any guy in your neighborhood or dad with a spark plug wrench can check a plug in minutes, and i think you will find your problem. Replace the plugs with AutoLight spark plugs for a Buick (the ones in the orange box) from Wall Mart or AutoZone, and get a friend to replace them....takes about 15-18 minuets to do this usually. And then you'll be done with it.
Reply:Nope-sounds like a mifire, either a coil, plug, wire or injector.

take it to a shop with certified techs.
Reply:my trannie went and it didnt jerk it didnt change gear... it missed a gear like start off in first rev out to the max n change to third or forth...
